The Blendors
 |
The
Blendors, back in 1984, started a group that would
go down in music history as one of the best blending
groups of all times. Although they have lost a
lot of hair and have gained alot of weight, they
still keep playing. Several of the members are
in wheel chairs. But that doesn't stop them from
playing the music you enjoy hearing.
Just
the other day, Cliff Washburn, lead guitarist
was bragging to Dave Cantrell that he hadn't broke
a string in 16 years when all of a sudden, his
E string broke and cut his ear open to the bone.
But not to worry. After being rushed to the hospital,
having his ear stitched up, was back at rehearsal
practicing for that weekends gig and the Moms
and Pops Centurian Nursing home. A gig they have
enjoyed playing for many decades because there
is such a good turn over at the home and new faces
every time they play.

Their
unique pyramid style of performing has been attempted
by many bands throughout the years. As they kneel
on each others back, they perform hits like, "Feelings",
Papas Got a Brand New Bag", and "If
I Were A Rich Man."
Once,
while performing the song, "I Just Called
to Say I Love You" to a crowd of Pre-schoolers,
their style aroused the little children who tried
to emulate their idols and fell on each other.
The kids got their pyramid up to 6 high when they
fell breaking bones and teeth. The Pre-school
was sued by the parents and the school had to
close.
But
that didn't stop The Bendors. They performed at
many events throughout the years, including weddings.

In
an interview with Dave Cantrell, he was quite
proud of the fact that The Blendors had performed
at close to 6000 weddings and only 5785 ended
up in divorce. He pointed out the fact that that
was a pretty good thing seeing how everyone was
getting divorced these days anyway.
